Easter

We had a great Easter. Ben took this adorable picture of the kids before church. I love it. Notice McKinna's new hairdo. She has wanted to cut her hair short for awhile. I was tired of fighting her on it. I actually love it. She was very concerned that no one would recognize her. She is so funny!

McKinna conquers her fear!

McKinna has wanted to ride her bike without training wheels for over a year. She begged us to take them off, and we warned her...once they are off they stay off. Of course, once we took them off she begged us to put them back on. We wouldn't because she was fully capable of riding her bike, but she was just too scared.

Well, her little neighbor buddy came out and started riding her bike around. McKinna walked over picked up her bike and started trying, all by herself. Evertime she started to get frustrated a neighbor would come out and cheer her on. She would get her determination back and start again. She even took a couple of spills, and has some scraped up knees, but she comes home from school everyday and rides away. We are so proud of her. We knew she could do it! Way to go McKinna!

Now Bodin wants his traing wheels off!

Boys.....Ugh!

So Bodin and his cousin Landon have been together a lot lately. They were together all day Friday and then Landon came and stayed the night Friday night. Brie took them home and they played most of the day Saturday. They are inseparable.

I get a phone call late Saturday night from Brie. She tells me that she discovered Landon peed in his trash can. Landon then admits that they peed in Bodin's too. It can't be true. I call Bodin up and ask him. I can tell immediately, because he does not want to answer. He won't lie. He admits to peeing in his trash can with Landon and peeing together in Landon's trash can the day before. What is wrong with boys?

I am having a hard time talking to him because I can't keep a straight face. This is quite hysterical. I send him to his room. What should his punishment be? Should I take his new dollar? Would that teach him a lesson? I got it...

He now knows how to clean the toilets. If I have to clean your pee, you will do the same! I hope he has learned his lesson:). The punishment fits the crime.

Our Busy Weekend

The weekend started off with sleepovers. McKinna had Jaiden stay over at our house and Bodin went to stay the night at Landon's house. What fun! They had such a great time, they were not ready to let it end... SO.... McKinna went to stay the night at Jaiden's house and Landon came to our house. We met Monya at the temple because Damon and Rachel were getting sealed in the temple. It was a beautiful day and we were glad to spend the day with them.

After the temple it was off to Chuck E. Cheese for T.J.'s birthday. Bodin and Landon played games for hours. They had a blast. Ben and I played speed ball (I think that is what it is called) and I must say that we make a pretty awesome team. We could take on any of the other 4 year olds playing there and hold our own. The boys loved spending the accumulated tokens for the day. They bought some sticky hands that they played with for hours. The joy of being kids!

We got home late on Saturday night and went to Baby David's blessing on Sunday morning. We got a phone call first from McKinna between her sobs she informed me how much she missed me. (It kind of felt good to hear her say that, she is the kind of kid that always wants to be on the go). Poor Monya had to deal with her throughout the night as McKinna had decided that she missed me. I think two sleepovers in a row was too much for McKinna. McKade had fun hanging out with grandpa after the blessing. They both took a nap together. Grandpa loves babies and the kids all love him. None of us can compare to fun Grandpa Bill.

By the time we got home on Sunday all three of my kids were asleep in the car. This was a fun-filled weekend and they all got tuckered out.

Last Soccer Game

McKinna and Bodin had there last soccer games last Saturday. They did very well for their first season playing. Bodin's team won most of their games. McKinna's team had a little work to do. They both had a lot of fun though. Bodin will be playing some more soccer and McKinna has decided she is ready to move on to a new sport (maybe something without a ball, she is a little scared of it). It is also very hard to teach her to be aggressive. I think that is something that comes naturally and she is just not an aggressive girl.

I got skills!

Bodin said he learned a new trick on the tramp wanted to show off his new skill. He starts by jumping really high. He then all of the sudden tucks his legs under him going into a knee bounce. Once his knees hit the tramp he catapults himself into a hand/head stand, pauses for a second, and then flops over!! Where did he ever come up with this trick?? He was very proud of himself. It’s funny when kids learn or figure out new (to them) things and think they were the first ones to do it, it cracks me up. But if I am the one to do the new move, then it’s legit because I’m 2 legit to quit!!!

Slugs or Sugarbugs?

So, we were watching Harry Potter last night. It was at the part where Ron Weasley tries to put a spell on Malfoy to have him eat slugs and the spell backfires (as Ron's always do) and Ron ends up with slugs coming from his mouth. Bodin then pipes up and says, "Mom, what are those?" "Slugs", I say. You can see Bodin pondering as he replies with "Sugarbugs?"

I see this as a great teaching moment..."Yes, they are sugarbugs!"

Again, Boding takes a few minutes to think this over. His answer..."I brushed my teeth today."

"Yes, you did."

Contemplating once more..."And I did not eat too much junk."

"No, not today."

"I will brush my teeth everyday, and not eat too much junk."

If only I had known years ago that is all it takes to make him brush better and eat healthier.

Lesson learned!
