Galveston

We have been planning to head down to the Galveston beach for a couple of weeks now,but something always seems to come up. Well, here comes Saturday, and I am sick with the flu, Bodin is sick with the flu, and we had to go to the urgent care for McKinna's ear infection. I drugged everybody up and decided that nothing would keep us back (Ben who was feeling well actually decided this). We decided the beach would not be a great idea, but Danielle had sent us some cool info about Galveston. When Hurricane Ike hit the island a few years back it took out almost all the gorgeous live oaks. They wanted to remember them though so they have awesome tree carvings all over the island. We took the challenge to go and find them (we actually had all the addresses).
So off we go. We first went and ate and the beach looked so inviting we decided to go and put our feet in. I had heard that the water in the Gulf is warm, but I have been in many oceans and they are never really warm. I hate cold water. We put our feet in and the water easily had to be in the mid-80's. It looks dirty, but it is super warm. We played and got a little wet. Well, some of them got a lot wet.

We then went on to find the tree carvings. There are a lot of them, but here are some of our faves.

I had to wonder as we went around to these if the people that had them in their yards regretted it a little. There was a constant flow of people going through taking pictures of these and some of them are over fences in their backyards. I was picturing my mom. She would be losing her mind. "These people should not be coming here. This is my yard." I would feel the same way, however we still went and shot some cool pics.

Journey at 6 months

Journey had her six month check-up on June 23, 2010. She came in at a whoppin' 9 lbs. 1 oz, and her height is now 22 1/2 inches. She is, of course, not on the charts yet, but she has kept her same growth curve. They just continue to watch her and make sure she cotinues to grow. Her biggest growth is in her head, it is actually on the chart at the 4th percentile. The doctors had always said that it was a good sign if the growth was in her head, that is where they need the growth the most:).
Some other fun things about Journey at 6 months:
She can sit up for a few seconds. She is still toothless (I can't believe this since the rest of mine had teeth at 3 months). She eats like a champ. She likes her oatmeal, rice cereal, bananas, carrots, yogurt, and ice cream. She loves to watch her brothers and sister. She thinks McKade is absolutely hilarious. (I am not sure why she is not scared to death of him as he is usually mauling her). She has finally made it into her 0-3 month clothes. Yeah! She refuses to sit up in the bath tub. She loves to lay back and kick around.

Of course, we had to do a 6 month photo shoot, she was not in a particularly good mood.

McKade was feeling negleted and positioned himself into the photo shoot. He is not even dressed:-) Perhaps he is the neglected middle child.

Did you know?

Did you know that Ben is running for Office? I didn't until I drove by and saw this sign...

Ha, I just could not resist. This sign struck me as hilarious. I did not have my camera with me the first time I saw it so I had to go home, get my camera and go back for the pic:-).

Father's Day 2010

"McKinna, why is your daddy special to you?"

"He lets me swim. He blows up the backyard pool for us. He takes us to AZ. He plays tag with me. He wrestles with me on the trampoline."

"Bodin, what makes daddy special to you"

"That he lets me mow the yard with him. I like to play wrestle and to wrestle. We sometimes go get soda. That I love him!"

I love you with all my heart. Thank you for working so hard for our family. McKade and Journey love you too! We hope you have a wonderful day.

Home

We came home to a jungle of a yard. The grass in TX is out of contol. Bodin got paid $2.00 to help mow the front yard. McKade, well he just wanted to help. They did a pretty darn good job!

McKinna's sunflower also bloomed while we were gone. It is huge and beautiful. Good gardening McKinna. Our cantoloupes, tomatoes, and squash are also coming along very nicely.

Baptism

While we were in Az we had McKinna's baptism. I figured this deserved it's very own post. She looked absolutely beautiful in her white dress and olive skin complexion. We are so proud of her and the decisions that she makes.

Grandma and Grandpa Cobb had a super fun party afterwards with a big slide and delicious food. It was great to spend time with wonderful family and friends. Aunt Rachel made this super cute and delicious cake for the party. Thanks everyone for a great day!

Vacation

Of course, as I am going through my pictures I wish that I had taken more, but here are some highlights from our trip to AZ...

Damon and Rachel decided to invite everyone to Makuto's Island for a birthday treat for McKinna and Bodin. It was a super fun afternoon.

The kids also spent much of the trip on Landon's water slide. I think that Brie got her money's worth on this one.

We also had the irrigation come through while we were there. This is a favorite of the country life (we still like to pretend that Queen Creek can have some country life to it:)).

Just a few pics of Journey to show she was there.

Another new nephew

Here is Roman Thomas Sanfilippo. I love the name and the hair. We can't wait to see him. We missed seeing him by a few hours. We wanted to wait and see him so bad, but he had other plans. He just wouldn't cooperate and get here. Now we need to convince Whitney to come and see us.

New Nephew

We are so excited that our newest nephew Gunner Grey Merkley is here. He was born at a whopping 7lbs. 10 oz. What a cutie! Congrats to the Merkley family.

For a Job Well Done

Since the kids had such a great school year, and did very well academically I wanted to treat them to a fun day. I pulled them out of school early on Thursday. The Space Center opened up a new Star Wars the Clone Wars exhibit that I knew they would love, and I wanted to hit it up before the full force of summer crowds were upon it.

The kids got to shoot at characters with their lasers. I must say that I won the most points.

They had a rock wall.

They also had an obstacle course. I could not go into this one with McKade and Journey, but the kids said that it was really hard and kind of scary. I am sure it was since they had to wear the full on harnesses.

McKade's favorite thing to do at the space center though is the ball pit. He could stay in there all day.

School Winding Down

We have had a lot to do with this school year coming to an end. On Wednesday, McKinna had her end of year class party. McKinna earned the Friend award this year. Good Job McKinna! Her teacher and class will be staying together as they loop up to third grade. (She is always in the class that loops).

Then, on Thursday, Bodin had the Kinder graduation. Bodin earned the easy going award, now that is a good quality to have! His theme was luau, he had a fun party after the graduation. The kids are looking forward to summer!
