McKade's broken arm

The day started out like any other.  The kids all went to school, Ben and I went to work.  We raced home because we had McKade and Journeys preschool end of the year "thing".  We went to it and they did great singing cute little songs.  We left a little bit early because we were all tired.  We came home got the kids into bed and Ben and I were sitting downstairs when we hear a "THUD" followed by some excruciating crying coming from McKade.  He had fallen from the bunk bed and hit his arm on the dresser on the way day.  We knew his arm must be broken.  We got him ready to go to the hospital and his wailing sounded something like this.  "I don't want to go to the doctor.  I am tired.  I just want to go back to sleep."  We finally decided if he could sleep we would wait and take him in the morning.  We put him in our bed an he actually slept that night.  Ben took him in the next day for X-rays and his arm was broken.  He got his sling and I made the appt. to take him in for his cast a few days later.  The most devastating part for him came when I told him he could not play soccer.  He was so sad.  I called his coach and the league and got permission for him to play with this huge arm protector.  He looked so funny with it.  It would kind of hang there while he ran around.  His coach thought it was hilarious that he would ask to play goalie every game.  "No McKade, that is the only position in soccer where you use your arm."  He did great with his red cast and looked at his arm in amazement after it was taken off.  The doctor said he has a very high pain tolerance and he fully expects to see him again.  GREAT!
