Eight is GRRRREAT!

Bodin has a hard time every year when McKinna's birthday arrives first. He pouts when she opens her gifts and carries on and on that it is unfair that she gets to have her party first. The night before his birthday he could hardly contain himself. I let him open up one gift that morning, a Ninjago lego set. He was so excited. He kept telling us that we were the best parents ever and the only way her day could get any better was if his shirt said, "It's my birthday" on it. Check out his shirt when he got home from school...
His amazing teacher made his day perfect. For his party he wanted to go see Marvel Avengers. (I would highly suggest this kind of party, no entertaining).

The double-digit midgit

Wow, 10 years old....and full of attitude!
We started off on her real birthay opening presents from family. She loved them all. For her party this year, I finally consented to a slumber party. Her friends came over and we went and played at the huge park for a while.
This one cracks me up!
The little stinks stayed up ALL night. I thought they fell asleep about one, but then at 3:30 I heard a noise. I don't do well tired and went and threatened them all with their lives. I did not hear another peep until about 9 that morning. We ate some donuts and they headed home. It has been a wonderfully fun year with our first born.

Family Fun Day in Galveston

The family fun days for Ben's work are always a lot of fun. This time they had it right down in Galveston at his work. The kids jumped in bounce houses, got tattoos, ate lunch, ate slushies and fooled around for hours.
One of the best parts of the fun day was checking out one of the work boats. We have never been on the work boat before so it was nice to check it out. It was bigger than I expected.

Field Days 2012

Bodin had his field day first and unfortunately my camera was out of batteries. I managed to get off one measly picture.
His assigned color for class shirts was pink. He really struggled with this, not wanting to wear pink. Ben, did not want him in a pink shirt, and I was not going to buy him a shirt he would never wear again. So, NO PINK SHIRT. He was happy with this until the morning of field day. He got worried that he was going to get into trouble, and I caught him digging in McKinna's drawer for a last minute shirt. After some reassuring, he went to school without a pink shirt and had a great time. McKinna had her field day the next Friday. With the camera recharged we headed down to the school.
She sure has a good time and is not a reserved child. She was dancing, and striking poses constantly. Our personalities are night and day, she may look like her momma, but she acts like her dad.

Swim Lessons

McKade started swim lessons this summer. Surprisingly, it went very well as he had an awesome instructor. I really thought he would cry the whole time, but he took right to it. Hopefully, he will actually learn to swim.

Kade's eye trick

A few weeks ago while driving down the road, McKade says, "Mom, I can see two of you." I flip around and see he has discovered cross eyes, however his are cooler, one eye crosses and the other one does not move. He proceeds to do it all through Target. He would now like to show all he meets his cool eye trick.
I bet you can't do that!

Get up, you will be fine!

McKinna likes to write stories and is an fantastically excellent writer. Here are a few samples she brought home from school that I thought were cute.
Isn't Journey a sweetheart.
Excuse the red marker on this one, the fantastically sweet Journey got to it. Anyway, after I read this one I couldn't help but laugh. "McKinna is this a true story?" "Yes "Mom, but I had to add a little to it." "Ya, my response would never be Sweetie, are you okay?" "I know, you would say...Get up, you are fine." There you have it, I am a very unsympathetic mom, sorry kids...Get up, You will be fine!
