We spent a day of Spring Break at Galveston Beach. The water was a bit chilly, but the kids did not seem to care. They got right in and they all loved it, except poor McKade. He sat in a chair under the shade just about the entire time. He was sick, but was quite the trooper. How does that feel Jason? Better rub in the spray sunblock:)I just can't help, but laugh.
While in San Antonio we took some time to go see the Alamo and stroll down the Riverwalk. To keep up with the times, here is Bodin planking! This was the little ferry we took to tour the Riverwalk. It was very educational. By the end of the day, Journey and Grandpa were all tuckered out.
We got up early in the morning on the first Sunday of Spring Break with Grandma and Grandpa for the much anticipated day...to meet up with the Merkleys at Sea World. We got in the car and drove through a nice 3 hour rainstorm. It has been a long time since I have been to Sea World, but it was just as I remembered it. We had a great time. I only lost McKade once, and we has quickly found. All in all, a good time.
It was Military Appreciation night at the Rodeo. When we got there they had some Amtracs set up. This was exciting. While living in Hawaii, the Amtracs would drive down the beach right by our house and into the ocean. It was always exciting to go out and watch them. Just for memory sake, here is the house in Hawaii. Our home is right behind Ben, the blue one. It was a split in half. Ours was on the right side. Right in front of Ben is the fence to the beach. Here is the beautiful sunset of the beach behind our home. Boy were we spoiled. The Marines had a pull-up bar set up. We watched one guy struggle to do his 9 pull-ups. Ben convinced (made) Bodin get up there and whip 10 out like nothing. GO BODIN! Probably their favorite part of the night though was the animals. They loved them. We got to see some baby chicks hatching and just hatched. I love how this picture makes it look like Journey is about to get pecked. HA! We walked right behind the Brahma bulls. I was terrified they were going to kick my kids. A very nice man came and told us they are very calm. He took the kids over to pet one. We were a bit disappointed that we did not get to see the pigs. We could not find them, I wonder if they come and weigh in on a later day. I wanted to see if their pigs compared to my Reserve Champion Pig in 4-H. :) We enjoyed watching the rodeo. The kids were actually bummed we did not get to see more of it. We ended the night with the Kid Rock concert. This was the kids first concert, and they loved it. They like the pyrotechnics, and the fireworks. He was very good at interacting with the audience which was great fun. All in all, the night was a blast and ended with them all sleeping in the car on the way home.
McKade has recently discovered that he is an awesome block builer. He had built a huge castle, and McKinna and Bodin were amazed when they came home to see it. They actually did not believe he built it all by himself. Nancy has made McKinna's dreams come true by giving her this beautiful dollhouse. She has arranged and re-arranged the furniture many time with her friends. They have even convinced Ben to get started on the electric for it. They have been having a blast with it!
