Critters

I went out into the backyard today and saw that the kids had left snack and snack wrappers all over the place. As I was starting to think of how to approach them on the situation (the ants will be coming, no more snacks outside, etc.) I hear a noise. I look towards the sound and see this...

Okay, he looks kind of cute, but then I see another one come out. His hair is all a mess. I grab my camera phone and take a picture and send it to Ben. I immediately call him wondering what the crap has taken over our backyard? He says he will call me back after he looks at the picture. At this point a third one comes out and comes right up to me. He is not scared in the least. I, on the other hand, am imagining them jumping on me while holding the baby. I am standing on the trampoline now so they can not get to me. I feel as if I am being surrounded.

Ben now calls me back and tells me that they are possums and his boss says they are not a nuisance. Really, then I will catch them and put them in his yard. I then proceed to tell Ben that I am going to let Taylor out to get them. After I do this I let Ben know that our problem has been solved because the possum is laying dead in the backyard. Ben laughs and says "they are playing possum". What? He tells me to let the dog back in and watch it. Sure enough after a few minutes it gets up. So, I let Taylor back out so I could see the whole thing take place. Yep, as soon as Taylor gets near it if falls over and plays dead. Stupid thing. I think that I will be calling Animal Control to see if they will take care of this problem. If not, I will be calling the guy I rent from (there are perks to being a renter). I then tell the kids to get out and pick up all those snacks because they are feeding that possum. (Probably not, but they won't know.)
Here are the pictures of it playing possum as well as a cool lizard that was out back.

Closure: Taylor was not going to be fooled twice. She hunted these for the next two days until she caught them and killed them.

Alligator Farm

Yes, that is right, we went to an alligator farm. We came home with all of our body parts still attached to so I deem this a success:). On Saturday while Landon was with us we headed down to see the gators. A bit after we got there they told us that a gator had been caught and was being brought to the farm. They brought it in and the kids got to sit on him. The camera people are there because they are filming for a cable show, "Gator 911", I think it is called. Anyway, you can tell how much McKade liked the gator. He was trying to hit the guy for having him touch the gator.

We then got to hold this 18 month old gator. He is safe to hold because he was born with a dislocated jaw and so he can not close his mouth, therefore he cannot bite. What a miserable life!

The kids even got to hold this python. Well, Bodin would not hold him, and it took a lot of convinving to get Landon to do it, but he did. McKinna did it with no trepidation. You go girl!!

This was a very fun place, and I must say I actually learned a lot from their presentation.

NASA space center

We were so excited that my mom, dad, and Landon got to come and visit with us on the Thursday of spring break. The ride to the airport could not have seemed longer to my kids, and according to my parents and Brie the airplane ride could not have been longer for poor Landon. They were so excited and got to playing as soon as Landon got here.

On Friday morning we took a trip down to the space center (it is only about 10 minutes from our house). It was pretty neat, but we need to go back when it is not so crowded. I am sure that we have some future rocket scientists or astronauts in the family, they just need to grow into their space helmets.

Who's Who???

While there we got to watch a circus act. McKinna liked the hula hooping girl while Bodin and Landon liked the bicycle trick guy the best.

Sometimes the best part of the day is just playing together.

We had a great day!

According to the movie "Jerry Maguire", the human head weighs approx. 8 lbs.

AND McKade's head is there at 17 months old:) HEE HEE!

Bass Pro Shop

Bass Pro Shop had there family day on Saturday. We went down there and did some fun activities. The kids got to paint a sailboat, shoot at their laser shooting range, throw some fishing lures in buckets, and just check everything out. It was fun.

Lunch

On Friday, McKade, Journey and I went to eat lunch at school with the kids. So the night before, I packed up McKade a lunch along with McKinna's and Bodin's. McKade thought he was the "stuff" going into the school with his lunch box. He loved eating lunch with his big sister and brother. I think that they liked to have him there too. We will have to do this every month.

Super Heros

My kids were so quiet on Sunday afternoon playing with their super heros. I did not go check on them because I did not want to ruin a good thing. But, later that night I went to into Bodin's room to put him to bed and had to call Ben back to take a look.

I felt bad when I had to close his blinds for bed and take away the super hero seats.

The Park

For playgroup on Friday I took McKade to play at this really cool park. He, of course, loved the huge slide so I stood at the top to make sure he did not fall. I knew the other kids would love to go, so on Saturday afternoon we packed up and went to the park.

Well, Ben did not take a pic. of the slide, but it was huge. Ben and I then discussed how both of our elementary schools had huge slides like this, except they were medal and straight down. It is sad how everything has to be so safe now that there are no longer slides like this on playrounds. My kids have the dorkiest playgrounds ever with teeny tiny slides. We will definitely have to venture over to this park often.
