Field Days 2012

Bodin had his field day first and unfortunately my camera was out of batteries. I managed to get off one measly picture.
His assigned color for class shirts was pink. He really struggled with this, not wanting to wear pink. Ben, did not want him in a pink shirt, and I was not going to buy him a shirt he would never wear again. So, NO PINK SHIRT. He was happy with this until the morning of field day. He got worried that he was going to get into trouble, and I caught him digging in McKinna's drawer for a last minute shirt. After some reassuring, he went to school without a pink shirt and had a great time. McKinna had her field day the next Friday. With the camera recharged we headed down to the school.
She sure has a good time and is not a reserved child. She was dancing, and striking poses constantly. Our personalities are night and day, she may look like her momma, but she acts like her dad.

Swim Lessons

McKade started swim lessons this summer. Surprisingly, it went very well as he had an awesome instructor. I really thought he would cry the whole time, but he took right to it. Hopefully, he will actually learn to swim.

Kade's eye trick

A few weeks ago while driving down the road, McKade says, "Mom, I can see two of you." I flip around and see he has discovered cross eyes, however his are cooler, one eye crosses and the other one does not move. He proceeds to do it all through Target. He would now like to show all he meets his cool eye trick.
I bet you can't do that!

Get up, you will be fine!

McKinna likes to write stories and is an fantastically excellent writer. Here are a few samples she brought home from school that I thought were cute.
Isn't Journey a sweetheart.
Excuse the red marker on this one, the fantastically sweet Journey got to it. Anyway, after I read this one I couldn't help but laugh. "McKinna is this a true story?" "Yes "Mom, but I had to add a little to it." "Ya, my response would never be Sweetie, are you okay?" "I know, you would say...Get up, you are fine." There you have it, I am a very unsympathetic mom, sorry kids...Get up, You will be fine!

Brazos Bend

I have been wanting to go to Brazos Bend for awhile. I heard there were alligators there. I thought if we were lucky enough we would see one in the swampy water out in the distance. We really thought we struck gold when the first bridge we came to had 2 gators sitting there less than 5 feet from us.
McKinna then found a hairy caterpillar, the kids loved it.
On with the trip... We started our walk up the path to the look out tower. Holy Gators! They were EVERYWHERE! In the middle of the path, right off in the brush, big ones, little ones, red ones, green ones (Okay getting a little carried away, but that is how it felt.) Ben wanted to touch there tails, Journey wanted to pet them, and Bodin just want to get the H-E double hockey sticks outta there. He was a bit nervous. And Danielle was saying it would be fun to take a boat out in that swamp. Seriously, ARE YOU CRAZY? I think I will go with Bodin.
We had a great time finding other wildlife as well. We saw turtles aplenty! One crossed the path right in front of us, and another struck pose like there was nothing to it. We even got to see a bird catch a snake.
And what trip would be complete without small bladder boy having to pee?
We had a fantasic time, and we definitely be heading back, especially on days when I am ok with a child or two being eaten. Maybe we should pack it up today.
Who's coming?

Grandma and Grandpa Cobb are here!

We had another great visit with Jim and Danielle. The first full day we spent a couple of hours down at Kemah Boardwalk. Bodin has a ticket to ride on the roller coaster there. He has been waiting to go on his wild ride for close to a year. We knew he had a little growth spurt and that it would be close for him. He was one stinkin' inch short. That was okay he will save his ticket for another day. In the meantime, we started off at the splash area.
We ate at The Aquarium restaurant at the Boardwalk. It was delicious, and the kids were entertained. Can't ask for more than that!
We then tooled around for a bit, and did a couple of rides.

Easter

We started Easter out with making some ANGRY Birds, and ANGRY chicks for that matter. How, well we set fire to them. We were too lazy to get out the firepit so the kitchen stove was the next best thing. The kids liked these.
We dyed the eggs.
Bodin decided if Santa gets a note so should the Easter bunny, and he definitely needed a carrot to go with it.
The kids hunted for their baskets. I did not take any pictures of this (We have 8:30 church and it was just too early). McKinna got some Harry Potter books, Journey got a My Little Pony Train and some Play Dough toys, and the boys big ticket item were some new Light Sabers they have been wanting.
We then headed over to Cody and Amy's for our Easter egg hunt.
